Main article about Katarina Claes

Katarina Claes is one of the main protagonists of the manga My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!.

After hitting her head as a child, she suddenly remembered her previous life as a high school student, and she tried desperately not to wind up with bad endings like her game counterpart.

Appearance[]

Katarina is a pretty young woman with hip-length brown hair that has a single hair strand hanging on the right side and light blue eyes.

Personality[]

Original[]

In Fortune Lover, Katarina is a spoiled girl who is often horrible to lower-class citizens and is willing to use any means to get what she wants. Katarina is willing to go as far as to abuse her adopted brother, Keith, along with her mother. She does not mind using underhanded tactics, such as when Prince Gerald accidentally 'tripped' her, she demands him as her fiancé as compensation. She is vile by nature, bullying Maria and leading the charge in harassing her, though this ultimately leads to her undoing.

Current[]

Presently, upon regaining her memories of her previous life as a humble Japanese schoolgirl, she turned into a kind individual. She is honest with her feelings and is not afraid to extend a hand to someone in trouble. As a child, Katarina became a tomboy who enjoyed sweets and romance novels. She can be highly competitive and had a bit of a mischievous streak as a child, most of which mellowed out as a young adult. She loves nature, having been a skilled tree climber in her original life which transferred into her current life. She also develops an interest in gardening and farming vegetables, mainly as a contingency plan in case she is exiled in some of the routes Katarina ends up in.

History[]

Childhood[]

Katarina was a selfish, spoiled princess-type. Because Prince Gerald 'injured' her during childhood, they got engaged. Because of this scar, she considered the prince as hers and bound him to her. In addition, she doesn't think highly of suddenly getting an adopted brother and often bullies him.

Relationships[]

Keith Claes[]

In the present timeline, because the current Katarina prevented Keith from being lonely, their relationship instead became very positive. Unbeknownst to Katarina, instead of being a playboy like his game version, Keith has become a sis-con who is completely infatuated with Katarina and sees other men, like Gerald, as rivals. Katarina often relies on Keith to help her with thankless tasks such as homework; in turn, Keith takes it upon himself to make sure Katarina doesn't embarrass herself in public.

Anne Sherry[]

Anne is the personal maid of Katarina. Not much has changed between Anne and Katarina's relationship in-game and in the present timeline. However, Anne and Katarina have a stronger relationship after Katarina regains her memories. She remains very loyal to Katarina despite her lady's strange decisions.

Gerald Stuart[]

In the present timeline, things go a little opposite as Gerald has genuine romantic feelings for the Katarina we see in the series, who is oblivious of his love towards her and only believes that Gerald is simply using her to lower any unnecessary attention from other noblewomen. Furthermore, Gerald refuses to annul their marriage despite how certain people, like her brother, Keith, and Katarina's mother, are now opposed to the marriage as they feel Katarina is not suited to be a princess. Despite her fear of the bad endings involving his route, she is still good friends with Gerald and trusts him completely, to the point where it worries Keith.

Alan Stuart[]

In the present timeline, Alan was irritated seeing Mary, who always spoke of Katarina, visibly infatuated. To ensure Katarina stays away from Mary, Alan would visit the Claes mansion regularly to compete with Katarina daily. He slowly opened up and became good friends with Katarina when she showed him Gerald's weakness. Not knowing of Alan's feelings for her, Katarina secretly wishes in her heart that he would hold his affection for their friend, Mary, instead of the heroine, Maria.

Maria Campbell[]

In the present timeline, though, Maria and Katarina became very close friends. This started with Katarina accidentally sabotaging Gerald line while rescuing her from other girls. Katarina then fended off Maria's bullies as much as she could. Katarina realizes that Maria is not the perfect protagonist of the game but is instead a hardworking girl who deserves happiness, which makes Katarina want to befriend her. During Nicole's graduation party, Maria confessed her feelings to Katarina (using the same line for the romance-able character from the original game) after Katarina asked her about who she loves.

Nicole Ascart[]

In the present timeline, Katarina stated how lucky Nicole was to have such a family. These were words Nicole wanted to hear for a very long time due to the criticism the Ascart family received (especially Sophia). Nicole opened his heart to Katarina and became one of her close childhood friends. To remove any awkward air between them, Katarina would often tell funny and interesting stories about things happening around her to converse with Nicole, which he appreciated a lot.

Sophia Ascart[]

In the present timeline, Sophia and Katarina became friends. They became very close and often discussed romance novels from time to time as novel readers. Sophia desires to become Katarina's sister (in-law) through a marriage between her friend and her brother, which makes her advertise her brother's charms at every opportunity that she has. Katarina is not aware of this and believes that Sophia is simply acting as a little sister who is very affectionate towards her brother.

Sora Smiths[]

During the Magic Academy's School Festival, Katarina was kidnapped by Sora. However, during her time as a hostage, they became friends, and Sora even developed a romantic interest in Katarina. She admires his cool-headed way of thinking and thinks that he is attractive and cool not for his looks but his personality; they share the same adventurous spirit and promise to travel somewhere together in the future.
